OWENS CORNING

TOLEDO, OH
2.43 MW | SURFACE LOT CANOPY

While exploring resurfacing the parking lot at their global headquarters in Toledo, the Owens Corning Sustainability Team saw an opportunity to transform the parking lot into resource of renewable energy.

Working with the developer of the project, we helped to design and engineer a solar carport structure to cover the 9.5-acre parking lot. To create a more aesthetic structure, the truss structure was produced with a powder coating finish. A raised concrete pier bollard was included at each column to further protect the structure from the over 900 vehicles that enter the grounds daily. Underdecking, gutters and downspouts were also included to manage the water discharge from rain and snow.

Lighting was installed under the structure as well for safety mitigation. The PV system is expected to produce around 3 million kWh of electricity a year.
