UPPER CAPE COD
TECHNICAL HS

CAPE COD, MA
663.3 kW | SURFACE LOT CANOPY

Upper Cape Cod Technical High School (UCT) began this venture because they saw it important to provide alternative energy that covers 20% of their annual energy costs and allow students the educational opportunity that solar canopies provide.

Terrasmart was able to create a design, working with project developers and UCT, that measures 20 yards wide and stretches a football field’s length. The unique longspan canopy design, of what looks like a checkmark, was created by having the longest spanning side at 1° tilt and the shorter spanning portion of the canopy at 5°.

Terrasmart’s field team installed the system, which faces some of the highest winds and snow loads in the entire state. This is also one of the largest solar canopies on a high school campus in Massachusetts.
