Utility Scale Solar Racking Manufacturer, Welcomes Eric Ford as Project Manager

RBI Solar, Inc., one of the nation’s leading manufacturer and installer for utility scale solar racking systems announced today, it has hired Eric Ford to the position of Project Manager. Eric will be responsible for overseeing the solar racking installations and hiring and approving work completed by subcontractors as well as negotiating contracts and developing a budget and timeline for the completion of a project. Prior to this role, Eric has worked for Greenhouse Industry for 14 years. Eric Ford has been a Project Manager for Rough Brothers where he spent his first two years in the Conservatory Restoration Division serving as the project manager responsible for the 7 million dollar glazing system restoration for the United States Botanic Garden Conservatory in Washington, DC.

Colorado Springs City Council finds compromise, expands solar gardens

RBI Ground Mount SolarNow, it seems there has been a compromise. The council will expand the solar garden program, but only a little and only for one year. The council, in a 6-3 vote Tuesday, gave the nod to expand the solar garden program by 2 megawatts of energy. Under the expanded program, the maximum incentive would be 13 cents per kilowatt hour to customers who buy the panels.

The new program would cost about $4.9 million over 20 years instead of the original $22 million. The new cost equates, on average, to 50 cents a year for utility customers. Council member Andy Pico voted for the expansion but was uneasy that all utility users would see an increase in their bills.
“I really don’t like that,” he said.

RBI Solar, manufacturer of solar mounting systems, continues to grow its engineering team. David Valenti is the latest addition to RBI Solar’s engineering team. He will be helping to perform field pull-out tests and analyzing geotechnical reports to choose the most effective foundation type for fixed tilt ground mount solar projects. RBI offers various foundation options to install a ground mount solar project including: concrete pier, driven post, dual post, spread footing, helical/screw pile and concrete ballast. Dave will also be helping the estimating department to interpret specifications for pricing.

Check Out Online – Energy Harvested by RBI’s Ground Mount Solar Array

RBI onsite solar array

RBI Solar has added a link to its corporate website to check the energy production for its on-site solar array. RBI completed this ground mount solar array back in December 2012 at its manufacturing facility in Cincinnati, OH. RBI is harvesting about 1% of the total consumption from this ground mount solar system. This 5.5kW ground array also serves as training tool for installers.
