How did you get started in the solar industry? What attracted you to it?

I have worked in the power industry in one discipline or another for many years. My previous job was in the coal burning energy field, and during that time I saw a definite change from coal to natural gas to solar. I think stricter government regulations and a desire from Americans to have a cleaner energy source have driven the change. I believe the solar energy field has a lot of longevity and will continue to grow as the technology improves.

How long have you been in the solar industry?

Just under one year.

What do you do at RBI Solar?

I’m a solar canopy designer. I work with our engineers and project managers to provide the best design for our customers and the site they are building on.

What has been your proudest accomplishment at RBI Solar so far?

Seeing my first canopy structure get installed! It’s a 2 canopy 292 kW installation in San Diego, CA. I currently have 2 other projects under construction in Massachusetts, one 935 kW project and one 807 kW project, that we hope to have completed by the end of this year.

What advice would you give to women starting out in the solar industry or looking to get into it?

Prepare to think forward and know you will be part of a cleaner future.
