Several members of the RBI Solar team recently celebrated their five-year work anniversaries with the company.

Matt Hayes

Matt Hayes

Matt Hayes is currently an estimator for the canopy team, but has touched nearly every role involved in the development and construction of a solar canopy project.

Having always worked in construction, Matt found the concept of being able to utilize his experience in the renewable energy field very attractive. His favorite part about working at RBI Solar is the people. “Not only is the team at RBI a great group, but I have found that the solar industry has many fantastic people that I have enjoyed working with,” he said.

One of Matt’s proudest accomplishments in his five years with RBI Solar was being involved with the Cincinnati Zoo solar canopies, which he describes as not only one of the top projects in our local area but in the country. When Cincinnatians ask him what he does for a living, he asks: “Have you been to the zoo?”

In the next few years, Matt wants to help RBI continue to grow and be a leader in the solar canopy field. As the company grows, he hopes to be an example of the “RBI way” for the new additions. His personal goal is to double the number of bicycle commuters each year.

One fact about him that his fellow employees at RBI Solar might not know is that he is an avid curler (“yes, the sport with brooms and stones”). After seeing the sport on the Olympics, Matt’s been hooked ever since.

Wes Pauly

Wes Pauly

Wes is currently a design manager for the canopy team. Before joining RBI Solar, he started in greenhouse and structure design at Rough Brothers. For Wes, moving to the newly formed solar division “had the lure of unlimited potential for creativity, growth, and success.” Developing the RBI Solar processes and products would be extremely challenging and equally rewarding for him.

Being able to fulfill his need for creativity every day is one of Wes’s favorite parts of his job. “To pull ideas from the mind and see physical results in the processes, function, and aesthetics is every designers dream,” he said.

Wes’s favorite moment since he began working at RBI Solar was his first hiring. “Offering a person a career can be life changing,” he said, and he is proud to be a part of that moment with his coworkers.

And just in case you were wondering, Wes is still the fastest designer.
